History

history.
Venchiaredo was established in 1968, a dream come true for a group of Friuli Venezia Giulia farmers with the common goal of joining forces.

At the beginning, the dairy products were diversified: montasio, ricotta, mascarpone, mozzarella, malga, caciotta, casatella, stracchino, italico, taleggio, butter.
Over time, the company developed from a small craft producer to a reference point in the agri-food sector in Friuli Venezia Giulia, soon reaching the national level.
The growth of the company can be attributed, in particular, to the decision of focusing on the production of soft cheese such as Stracchino and Crescenza and on the strategy aimed at working for third parties. At the end of the 1990s, the company was among the first operators in the sector to start a private-label production, specialising in dairy production on behalf of major national and foreign distributors.
The year 2006 marked the beginning of a new journey. Aware of the need to streamline individual technical skills to effectively address increasingly globalised and demanding markets, the company reshaped into two distinct and synergistic corporate realities: the Venchiaredo Cooperative, which manages the relationship with producing members, dealing with the primary sector and with the whole milk production process, and Venchiaredo S.p.A., a company specialising in the processing and marketing of the finished product using highly innovative technologies.
In October 2007, the Company started its first production in the new facilities thanks to the introduction of new technologically advanced milk processing equipment for the production of fresh and soft cheese.
In 2010, the company joined Emmi Holding Italia, the Italian branch of the multinational Swiss dairy enterprise, one of the leaders in the industry at the international level. This merger allowed Venchiaredo to reinforce its position on the dairy market, thanks to the strength of the Swiss company when it comes to marketing and distribution.
The definitive renewal of the plant was completed between 2013 and 2014, with the creation of the new highly automatised Stracchino packaging department.

The quality level in the production of Stracchino has always been so high we decided to start, back in 2014, the process of the PGI recognition for Venchiaredo Stracchino (IGP).

The years 2015 and 2016 are fondly rememberd for the considerable number of recognitions obtained by the Company: the award “Packaging Oscar” and the CONAI (National Packagin Consortium) for the company attention to sustainability for the invention and introduction of the Open&Close pack for Stracchino; the award “American Friendly”, wished for by the Italy-USA Foundation and the Certification A.Qu.A. seal “Agriculture, Quality and Environment, Quality” seal awarded by Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In 2016, a new shareholder entered the team: Friulia Spa, finance company established by Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In 2017, apart from starting a cogeneration equipment, the Company obtained on the one hand the ISO 14001:2015 certification, and on the other hand the introduction of Granarolo Spa as a shareholder, thanks to the acquisition of the shares once owned by Emmi Holding Italia. The introduction of this new shareholder inserts Venchiaredo into one of the main agro-industrial groups with Italian capital.
